G.C.
Cameron
(The Spinners)
Mississippi
native George Curtis Cameron known professionally as G.C. Cameron
first came to national attention in the late 1960s as the lead
singer of The Spinners. Demonstrating his five-octave range
on the groups first hit "It's a Shame," seemed to
announce to the world that the new super group was born. "It's
a Shame," written by Stevie Wonder, ranks among the greatest
pop tunes ever recorded. The song's success provided the currency
the Spinners needed to leave Motown for what would be a monumental
decade at Atlantic Records ("I'll Be Around," "Then
Came You," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love").
Still under contract with Motown. G.C. Cameron departed The
Spinners to launch a solo career on the company's new California-based
Mowest label. Cameron at that time was engaged to Gwen Gordy,
sister of company founder Berry Gordy, Jr. His brother-in-law,
Motown icon Marvin Gaye, was married to Gordy's sister, Anna.
G.C. recruited his cousin Philippe "Soul" Wynne to
take his place in the group.
In 1975, Cameron released the now classic solo single on Motown,
"It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" which became
a major hit and theme. The tune was later covered by Boyz II
Men on their Cooley High Harmony" album. A popular attraction
during the 1970s "Soul Train" TV era, Cameron recorded
a variety of R&B and pop songs toured internationally as
a solo artist. His first solo album, "Love Songs and Other
Tragedies" is now a music collectors masterpiece which
features the soulful 70s slow-jam "Let Me Down Easy."
Cameron's additional recordings include a duet with Martha Reeves
on the Motorcity label, the album "The Very Best of G.C.
Cameron" on Hot Production record, and his current release
"Shadows" on DejaJacc Records.
Cameron ultimately reunited with the Spinners and shortly thereafter
received an invitation to join the legendary Temptation, and
toured with them as recently at 2007. A 1999-inductee into the
vocal group Hall of Fame, G.C. Cameron is the first singer in
history to sing lead for two major R&B vocal groups. The
Temptations and The Spinners are considered by many to be the
World's Greatest Vocal Groups, with a combined 200 Billboard
chart hits, gold and platinum records, with a plethora of Grammy
Awards. Cameron's recordings with the Temptations include the
Grammy-nominated albums "Legacy" and "Reflections"
with the spin-off single "How Sweet It is To Be Loved by
You."
Much in demand on the overseas market, Cameron has schedule
tour dates in the United States and is also visiting schools
to meet students to talk about the importance of education.

Glenn
Leonard
(Motown Legend)
Glenn
Carl Leonard is a native of Washington D.C., born June 11, 1947,
the second oldest of eight children born to Gennie and Pearlie
Leonard, originally from North Carolina. The Leonards were not
unlike hundreds of thousands of poor families trying to survive
in the inner cities of America. During the early years of Glenn's
life, he was raised between Washington D.C. and North Carolina.
Glenn started singing at the early age of 6 and by the time
he reached 13, he began to earn a living performing on stage,
at parties, concerts and as a recording artist. He had a dream
of being an established, professional and successful entertainer.
With a lot of hard work, diligence and determination, he successfully
established three singing groups by the time he was in his early
20s called The Chancellors, Instant Groove and True Reflections.
He was also a member of a popular and successful recording group
from D.C. called The Unifics.
Glenn's first recording was with The Chancellors on Cap City
Records, a subsidiary of Septar Records in Washington D.C. He
later records with True Reflections on Atlantic Records. In
1975 Glenn came to the attention of the world-renowned and legendary
Temptations of Motown. He had always been a fan of the group,
grown up listening to the smooth and tight harmonies of Eddie,
Paul, David, Otis and Melvin.
He had a long and illustrious career as the first tenor and
lead singer of The Temptations from 1975 to 1983, performing
on 10 albums with them, singing lead on such songs as "I'm
on Fire," "Go For It," "The Best of Both
Worlds," "Open Their Eyes," "Ever Ready
for Love," and the classic Christmas song "Silent
Night" from The Temptations' Give Love at Christmas LP.
One of the highlights of Glenn's career as a Temptation was
the 1982 Temptations Reunion Tour. He had the opportunity to
travel all over the country performing with legendary entertainers
including Eddie Kendrick and David Ruffin. On this tour, Eddie
and David reunited with the group (Glenn, Otis, Melvin, Richard,
and Dennis), making SEVEN Temptations on stage, and giving historic
and unforgettable performances. The Reunion Tour drew sell-out
crowds across the nation and the fans enjoyed seeing the original
Temptations as well as the rest of the Tempts on the same stage
together once again. Glenn and Eddie remained good friends until
Eddie's death in 1992.
